Horatio
Nelson is the legendary naval hero who led Britain
to victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and is
commemorated by Nelson's Column in London's
Trafalgar Square. The "Nelson Touch" refers to his
ability to inspire his men and bring out the best in
people, a reliance on close study of the
fundamentals of a situation to gain tactical
advantage, thinking outside the norm of eighteenth
century sea warfare, and devising bold strategies
based on giving trusted commanders both a simple
battle plan and the independence to execute it.
